TPO-free gels: what the change means for UK nail technicians

TPO (trimethylbenzoyl diphenylphosphine oxide) is a photo-initiator that has been used in many gel polishes. It is no longer allowed in cosmetic products sold in Great Britain.

What we are doing

Every gel product we sell in Great Britain is TPO-free, and we only publish a gel product once we hold the supplier's written confirmation. Each product page shows whether the product is TPO-free and HEMA-free.

What you should do

  • Check the labels of the gels you already use in your salon.
  • Keep the safety data sheets (SDS) for the products you use – trade customers can request them from us.
  • Follow the curing times printed on each product exactly.
